Festival Opening 2016

With the participation of 22 countries and awards of more than 10 million riyals, Prince Sultan bin Abdelaziz international Arabian horse festival starts the competition today

Today, Monday, sees the starts of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdelaziz 3rd International Arabian Horse Festival at Al Khalidiyah Farm, west of Riyadh with the participation of 22 countries with awards reaching more than exceeding 10 million riyals. Overall, 396 horses are competing in three categories: Endurance, Race and Horse Show.

His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Khaled bin Sultan, member of Board of Directors of the Festival, has emphasized the importance to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia of hosting this international event saying “Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Horse Festival holds the highest level of horse show that is possible under ECAHO (Title Show), and we are proud that Saudi Arabia is the only Arab country that organizes a festival like this with the support of his majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his crown prince and the attention of HRH Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz chairman of the Board of Directors.

and added” this festival will include the first race for the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz cup with a prize of one million Saudi riyals, this was the idea of HRH Prince Khaled Bin Sultan in his continuous effort to support the Saudi horse owners and to grant the wish of HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz to return the Arabian Horse to his native Country, Saudi Arabia.

The Festival started today with a 100 Km Endurance Event involving 37 competitors, being the elite of the Arabs in the Endurance discipline. The Al-Asifa Stud owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum crown prince of United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai competed with 10 horses, and Al Wathba Stud owned by HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates competed in this event alongside with Saudi studs who have prepared for this competition.

On Tuesday Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz race track will host a race with participation of 149 horses competing in a seven races event as the last race will be Prince Sultan Bin Abulaziz cup with a prize of one million Saudi riyals.

On Wednesday and for the period of three days the horse show competition will start with the participation of 210 show horses representing top studs and stables in the world in 4 categories Colts, Fillies, Stallions and Mares.
